I have used ASPL’s services on two occasions. The first time, in 2021, they charged PS90 plus VAT for an efficiently completed job within an hour, using a garden tap for strong water pressure.
Recently, I called them again for a similar job. This time, the technician chose to use a less effective tap near our front door, leading to lower water pressure and a longer job duration. Despite the blockage being minor, they initially attempted to bill us for two hours of work.
I expressed my concerns to Joe over a phone call, referencing the efficiency of their previous visit and suggesting the use of the garden tap instead. Unfortunately, the technician continued with his initial choice, causing an unnecessary extension of the job and a disruption to our morning routine. After raising the issue with Joe, the owner, the billed time was reluctantly reduced to 1.5 hours.
Joe offered no apology for trying to charge me for 2 hours. He didn’t call me back to discuss this despite saying he would investigate and follow up. So I texted him this morning, and this was his response:
“Hi Mukesh. It won’t have made the difference of an hour on the job.
But will reduce by half hour.
Joe”
However, this still represented almost 3 times more in cost from our first experience, especially in light of the current cost of living crisis, resulting in a total charge of PS270 including VAT.
While ASPL ultimately resolved the blockage, the experience highlighted a need for better judgment and customer communication. Given the discrepancy in service and pricing, I recommend shopping around for a fixed-price service to avoid unexpected charges.
Regrettably, I have informed Joe of my decision not to use their services in the future due to
1) poor communication from Joe, who said he would investigate and follow up
2) No apology for attempting to charge me for 2 hours of work despite Joe concluding that the work could have been done quicker
3) Uncompetitive, his hourly rate has jumped from PS90 to PS150 an hour, plus VAT means for many living locally this is quite expensive.
The work itself was efficiently done, and initially I would have been happy to leave a positive review, However, subsequent dealings with their office were unnecessarily rude, upsetting and unpleasant, so I cannot recommend this company. I would also echo a previous reviewer’s caution on how pricing is determined. We too had the chap who spent a good 20 minutes after finishing the job talking about his beliefs re child care and health – and then kept forgetting his tools and having to return. Fine, he was friendly enough – but we ended up paying for this time.
I have used APSL in January this year to address blocked drains in our bathroom.
They arrived within a day and got this ongoing issue sorted, with the help of clever tools and a camera.
The engineer was extremely pleasant, made everything he could to leave the place as clean as it was when he arrived, and always clearly explained every step of the process.
And Darren in the office could not have been nicer.
Will definitely recommend.

One of our tenants recently brought bed bugs into one of our flats in London. We used Thermopest to eradicate the bed bugs and they did a fantastic job, they were cheaper then other quotes we got and the process went smoothly..
