Worse store I’ve ever been to I spent a total of PS2000 on my Argos Card on devices like mobile phones and tablets

I brought a sony z3 what the store was reselling after it was returned s faulty I questioned them to why the box was open and was told sony forgot to put the factory seal on yet they state never accept a device with a opened box. I was told I had to take the phone as they wouldn’t refund me even though I brought it seconds ago. I then had to go 40 miles away to my next Argos who had it in stock to replace it.

I then ordered a samsung tab A 9.7 what had a fault with it and ended up sending it to Samsung for a replacement. I then ordered a Microsoft tablet what I decided to return as I changed my mind box wasn’t opened it was in its brand new condition and they refused and called me a liar

The manager in this store is the reason this store is so bad. He’s rude unhelpful and didn’t understand customer service. I’ve called the head office about the store and I believe they have investigated it. The store lists items they don’t have in stock and you have to wait 20 mins for a member of staff to come over there more interested in talking to the other staff rather then helping customers. You would get better service elsewhere.

I would also advise anyone with a Argos Card be careful if you use it in this store I was charged insurance for 64.99 and I didn’t ask for it the put it on my Argos Card without consent and then I was told I couldn’t get a refund for it even though I didn’t ask for it BEWARE I’ve cut my Argos Card up now and stopped using Argos due to the experience I’ve had.

They have also redone the store from its old a
tatty look but the layout but I wouldn’t say it’s any better it looks more like a Sainsbury’s Argos not a Argos store the layout is weird and the service still isn’t right. The only good thing is they have a self service at long last but it doesn’t mean your item won’t take long we waited 20 mins for a printer and the store was empty

I was delighted that I could have same day delivery and even choose a 3 hour delivery slot. however it was since accepting delivery that my experience has worsened. upon very carefully opening the parcel containing a full length mirror i saw it was quite badly cracked. this was at approx 19.10. I immediately obtained the Lewes store number and began calling at 19.14. I was in a queue for 28 mins. I decided to try a little later as advised only to be told that you were closed. this was at 20.10. I am very disappointed not to be able to talk to someone about replacing the broken mirror.Nicola Russell

Rather rude, told my partner the FT codes from the text were old but when shown the email they magically worked..? Even the 4 digit code wouldn’t work for the whole order which makes 0 sense since they were ordered at the same time. Told him to move out the way so another customer could be served even though he was being served himself. Very rude and stuck up manager, wont be getting anything sent there again!

Monday approx 14:00 in June 2023.
Well I’ve been to much better Waitrose stores!
The shop although bright on the inside is dark outside but maybe this helps with climate control? It doesn’t help with the plants outside as some of them were looking very sad and in need of a drink.
The produce stock looked a bit bare which is unusual I think?
The rest of the store was ok, adequate but nothing to write home about.
Only 3 checkouts operating with longer queues at the self-service so a short wait. The checkout operator was a young guy who had gone to the ultra laid back I couldn’t care less school of Waitrose grocery. The 60p plastic shopping bag was tossed down the conveyor belt and the rest of our shopping followed in the same manner. Everybody has a bad day perhaps this was his.
Seriously Waitrose if you cannot get younger people who want to work for a living try recruitment from the returning to work retired as most of your customer training will have already been done over their life!

This waitrose is generally very good. Staff are lovely and always go out of their way to help. That being said, all the meat is absolutely rancid, all the time. Cold meats are usually an off grey or brown colour and the mince meat is the foulest thing – 5% fat for 6.50, and it is always brown or a grayish brain type colour throughout, smells awful and the bags it is sold in are always inflated. Bacon is left on shelves completely grey , and the roast beef joints are always going grey. I’ve wasted so much money hoping that the next piece of meat I buy is going to be a of decent quality.

A very clean, spacious, well laid out store. Plenty of choice, and the quality we expect from Waitrose. All the staff were very friendly and polite. A large, very busy car park. Very few disabled parking bays. Might be an idea to make people buy a parking ticket, refunded on purchases. I think a lot of non Waitrose people park here, because it’s free

Homebase – Lewes

My disabled 80+ year old parents were issued with a parking fine for taking too long to shop here (longer than an hour, by 18 minutes). There is good signage warning of parking restrictions, but they didn’t think to look at this, as last time they were here, there were no restrictions and most shops give two-three hours parking, which they knew they would not exceed. They are very frail and slow and genuinely took this amount of time to go around the store, decide what they wanted and make a purchase. They didn’t abuse the carpark by using it, but shopping elsewhere. They displayed and parked in disabled badge parking.

Turns out, Homebase don’t own / tenant the carpark; parking restrictions / charges are being applied by the landowner. On contacting Homebase, they were able to get the penalty cancelled. So ‘one’ star that my parents had to experience this, but ‘five’ star customer service from Homebase. Note to anyone using this carpark who can see they will be longer than an hour; – register your parking in store.

I had a kitchen designed via Homebase Lewes. When it came to fitting it, it turned out the measurements of the design were wrong so the units on two sides of the kitchen did not fit. In addition, the wrong tower was ordered to house the oven I ordered (via Homebase). It’s now been a week since the mistakes were reported and there is no sign of any resolution, so who knows how long I will be without a kitchen. I highly recommend not using Homebase for a new kitchen.

To reply to the response below: the store is not in contact with me. I’ve had no proactive contact with them in over a week. I’ve had to continually chase and still there is no sight of a resolution. It is beyond ‘disappointing.’ No-one seems to care. It is just a huge machine. I highly suggest going with a small kitchen supplier where you can actually talk to someone and receive proper customer care.

When they make mistakes on their kitchens they are very slow to admit fault and even slower to fix the situation. It really, really is better to go elsewhere. Paying a bit more will cost you less than spending hours being fobbed off by Tayla in the “CEO Response Team” (whatever that is). Being without a kitchen while they conduct some internal investigation is simply NOT worth it.

A friend has kindly been picking up suppliers for me since February and charming Trent at the Lewes branch wouldn’t permit him to collect order number 34 today, refusing to serve him and even hung up the phone with me!

Great customer service NOT, refusing to verify me over the phone and fully expected me to make the 40 mile round trip to produce ID for an account purchase! Strange as other purchases have been over the magic PS100 order value and it begs the question why be so rude and awkward, prompting other customers to insist on my friend being served and waiting their turn in the queue?

Trent civility costs nothing, behaving in this way with an audience damages Screwfix’s reputation and yours.

Screwfix’s product offering is not unique but their point of sale is, just not tonight.

It’s a trade counter full of sweaty plumbers electricians and carpenters amongst others, all collecting something vital. It’s disabled access is fine so the wheelchair using TV aerial fitter can get in. There’s a restroom provided against the outside wall around the back and the staff are helpful and courteous in the face of economy busting restrictions placed upon them by the government. One other thing, no all you can eat or drink offers during this period although takeaway champagne truffles and pan fried pheasant will be available from next Tuesday.

Wow, what a rude and unhelpful staff member they have there. Asked for help and got a sarcastic rude and unhelpful response.. Told him what I thought of him and walked out !!
Absolutely amazing.. If he was one of my team he would have been given the bullet, clearly he is in the wrong occupation. Suggest a change of job away from front line public service…
