Antony, John & recently Ryan have done four projects for us. The first was a 60 ft path that cut through a concrete retaining wall and curved right halfway into an overgrown clay tennis court, and finished with a turning circle for a mobility scooter. The path is wonderfully straight and it’s a delight for a morning walk within the inner city. The price seemed expensive, but the end result was superb, the detail of the quote was persuasive in terms of the foundations of the path and in practice it gives the rocksolid assurance that you need when you have reduced mobility. That was followed by a smaller project, to create a windbreak that was half brick wall and half transparent Perspex panels. This was just an idea, but Antony found panels that would work and have been completely unmoved by gales that hit us on this one of the hills of Sheffield. The brick wall is curved and without fail is admired by everyone who comes in the garden. The third project was also small and involved clearing a space in the garden for a summer house to an exacting specification allowing a slight incline to drain away rain under the structure. There was absolutely no problem about fitting the structure. The last project was the biggest of the lot and involved trenching to take plumbing and waste pipes to the summerhouse with a spur for a stop tap at the edge of the orchard. The job included making good on an existing path to bring it up to the standard of his first project and also creating a concrete bridge into the summer house for level access on a mobility scooter. As with all their work, the resulting paths are a joy to ride on.
Antony doesn’t just deliver work that will last well into the future, but transforms a garden by bringing out its beauty. He literally enjoys problem-solving to delight customers and the whole team pays great attention to cleaning up during and after work.

We recently moved to a house which had a very poor looking garden; more like a piece of grass and some flag stones.
Ant and the team have truly transformed our garden from our initial design. Nothing was too much trouble.
They created some amazing sleeper beds, installed a beautiful pagoda, surrounded by composite decking and then laid the most beautiful porcelain flag stones.
It took the team only ten working days to complete the job and they did this to a very high standard. I couldn’t be happier with my new garden.
The price was great and the team worked incredibly hard.
Thank you. Would highly recommend.

From swamp to oasis – Ant and his team were friendly, patient and diligent in making the transformation of our waterlogged quarry into a paved yard with a wrap around decking, steps, gates and fencing. Ant was able to advise us in the decision making stages and worked with us as the project developed. He remained flexible and adaptable throughout and never made us feel bad for tweaks we made as it progressed.
We are absolutely thrilled with the end result and would recommend him without any hesitation.

Woeful. What a bizarre, amateurish (if not dodgy) online vendor. Ordered 3 magazines. Order went through fine, even got a “thank you” order confirmation. Then later on, without RoverUK bothering to contact me first and discuss any issues, received message saying order cancelled!? Reason given started as “unforeseen circumstances”, then became “unable to deliver to you by hand”. What the….? Seller was contacted and it turned out that he didn’t like my request that the carrier not leave the items outside the front door if unable to hand to recipient, because he couldn’t guarantee it wouldn’t happen. (He doesn’t seem to understand that Royal Mail – the carrier in this case – leave cards in the case of failed deliveries and offer depot collections or redeliveries…) So. No magazines and a long wait for my payment to re-enter my bank a/c. He is also doing absolutely nothing to restore this customer’s good will. He’s more interested in and upset by the fact that a customer is extremely disgruntled with his lack of proper customer service. I even asked that the order be reinstated (I really want the items!!!) but he simply didn’t want to know. Unimpressed would be something of an understatement…

Really disappointed with customer service. I ordered an item and the one that arrived was clearly not as it was pictured on their website. When i raised this and requested to return the item for a full refund, I was given sarcastic replies, advised to make my own DIY version and told that such a product (despite them having a picture of it on their own website) was not actually available to buy. Several emails later (including having to find and send proof that such items did exist!!) I was eventually refunded, no apology for the (i think unintentionally) misleading image nor the intentional sarcastic, bordering on rude emails that accompanied the exchange. I’m shocked that a company that appears to usually have excellent customer service would behave like this and I would never use this company again.

Ordered and despatched within a couple of hours arrived two days later via postman. Bit fiddly opening the bottom but fathomed it out in the end, if you look at the bottom dish inside you can see how the clips work. Hopefully the pesky squirrel and big birds will be deterred

I haven’t been since you were allowed in store so I assumed that like before you were served outside the store. When I arrived I realised that I would be actually going into the store so I asked the guy working outside if I’d need a mask. A simple answer of yes would have been sufficient. I had a mask in the car and would happily have worn it. (I just didn’t realise I would be allowed in store) The abuse I received from the male worker was horrendous and extremely embarrassing in front of other customers. i tried to explain that I wasn’t being rude or awkward I just didn’t realise that we now go In store and that I would go and get my mask. He was extremely rude ranting on
About fines for not wearing my mask and raising his voice for others to hear him more clearly! I felt very uncomfortable around him and feel that I don’t want to go again to the store. There was no need for his rudeness. Very poor customer service indeed.

The guys in this store really helped us just now – I work in retail and know how frustrating it is when people turn up just before closing, but we’re moving house and haven’t stopped all day, so we only noticed an item we needed to get about 20 minutes before Screwfix closed, and we were 19 minutes away.

Thankfully we were served despite being so last minute. I appreciate that they could have just said no and that would have been it, but it was a huge help and we really needed that level of customer service after a rough day. Thank you so much.

Ordered via online app. Due to the order the items were coming in stock the next day. As always great communication via automated message service and email.
The store has plenty of parking so no worries here.
The staff were excellent, they even helped me to the car with my items.
The store is located in a small industrial estate off of Station Road. There are other builders merchants nearby also.

I visited this Screwfix location for the first time to buy work clothes. The young lady and kind gentleman who assisted me were incredibly helpful. Despite not remembering their names, their patience and understanding made the shopping experience seamless. Their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction were evident, making it a positive first experience. I’ll definitely return for future needs, confident in the excellent service at Screwfix.

Just been in store didn’t really know what I was looking for, a lovely lady Michelle help me so much went really out of her way to help me this was the best experience iv had with screw fix nothing was any trouble Michelle was really polite and in the end she got what I needed. Shops need more Michelle’s thank you so much wish I could leave more then 5 stars you really went above and beyond thank you.

The ‘ Click and collect’ is great. From ordering what I needed online it was less than half an hour before I was back home with goodies in hand. One thing I do find unusual though, is on their websites, where they request you to bring your CC so that they can check your PIN, even though the transaction has already been completed. However no one at the outlet asks anything about your CC or PIN.

Not a good visit. Just been to ask if anyone had handed any drain end caps in as I believe I left them in the trolley. Not been handed back in. I was going to spend approximately PS120 on timber but the response I had from staff and management was very poor. I understand they can’t just replace the items as it was my mistake but the fact the two assistants were stood smirking behind the manager was uncalled for and in my opinion poor customer service. I will be spending my money elsewhere in future.
For future reference the correct procedure would have been to take the customer details and say if anyone handed them in or if any of the staff not on duty today had found them then they would be in contact. Customer service is so easy to do right.

called in today , diy shop not my norm ….. i was sent for a fence post as we didn’t purchase enough and i also wanted cuprinol urban grey paint ,,,, which i couldn’t find …. i paid for post st the till and asked if they would have more stocks of the paint … a young guy very helpful checked and said they had some isle 3 top shelf . i checked and Bo still couldn’t find , so his colleague looked for and came back with a 25ltr tin , said sori they were in the back ….. so helpful and they were very busy so thank you

Went for ant gel, as have got lots and lots, then some more ants by the front door; didn’t want a spray, as I need to destroy the nest(s); I didn’t want the powder, as cats, hedgehogs and poss other creatures pass by and it’d be hazardous to them; apparently Wickes don’t sell ant gel, as they “…have the powder and spray…” – so I went to Homebase and got some traps with gel inside, pack of 2 for PS5

Sold us Bathroom and pushes us towards ProtectMyInstall. Fitter was a cowboy.
Two independent surveyors said most things should be re-installed. Homebase CEO rep washed their hands of the situation. Homebase have done NOTHING, 4 months later we still have water gushing through the bath side and into our downstairs electric cupboard. DO NOT ever trust Homebase and the recommendation of PMI. Our PS6000 bathroom installed is ruined and they have done nothing about it.
During install the cowboy installer caused 5 different leaks into the ceiling, in some places there is a 12mm gap between bath and wall which can be seen as daylight from the electric cupboard below. The fitter broke the bath corner forcing the bath panel in which is now distorted and bulging. None of the wet wall are level or square, surveyors noting 20mm bowing out in places.
He cut a massive hole in our stairs to reach a leak that he caused fitting the shower feed, that he never tested. The sink tap moves freely, the bath taps were initially fitted hand tight and leaked. Nothing is level or properly fitted.

RICS Surveyors words.
Summary and Recommendations
Overall, the bathroom installation appears to be poor and my recommendations are as follows:
In the first instance, the bath should be removed, and if damaged replaced. The wall panelling should
be cut back and trimmed off level with the top edge of the bath. The bath can be scribe slightly into
the wall if required to ensure that there are no excessive gaps and ceilings can remain watertight and
relatively small. Sealants will all require renewal.

The shower screen will then need to be refitted.

The fixed panel to the vanity unit beneath the wash handbasin needs to be replaced and fitted so
suitable gap can be obtained between the doors and the fitted panel the doors and then require
general adjustments to ensure consistent gaps throughout the vanity unit installation.
The basin should be removed and refitted level and at this time the basin taps should be securely
fitted.
The WC should also be removed and refitted to ensure that is level.

What have Home base done about this?
NOTHING.
A helpful chap in store tried to help and was categorically told to back off and not get involved, even though in his expert opinion ‘the entire installation should be ripped out and re-fitted’ He has been ordered to stop helping us by his superiors and the CEO’s office.
This company is a disgrace and treats customers disgusting.
1 star is too many.
They use Protect my Install (er) who do not communicate, and instead give the problem to QASSS who’s biased approach has been noted on several occasions.

If you want a bathroom fitted by Chimpanzees for blind people fitted. Please do go to Homebase and use their ‘accredited fitter’ Service. If not please look elsewhere and find yourself a professional company, that knows what they are doing and has some understanding of customer service.
I can’t imagine their Kitchens are any better. Imagine that the gas cooker leaking etc and nothing installed properly.

Absolutely excellent staff and customer service. I’ve got a big garden project on the go and it’s quite difficult as there’s only me to do all the heavy stuff. Any bit of help offered is very much appreciated. I think I’ve got the majority of what I need but in recent weeks I’ve had lovely help from all staff, plus lots of random smiles and Hellos, which is so nice. Special thanks to: Paul, who advised re: weed killer (I went with membrane and a flamethrower in the end); Lauren, who manoeuvred my wayward trolley last week and loaded my car; Nick who helped me get stuff to, and into, my car today but who has been helpful with advice previously too; Clare (Bear) who is a wonderful ambassador for Homebase, with a ready smile and genuine care for customers (even when challenged by unpleasant “customers”). You’re all fabulous and I’ll see you if I need that extra bag of bark…!!

Store has NO CUSTOMER TOILETS.
Why are so many stores closing their customer toilets?
They all want us to spend hundreds of pounds, so why won’t they let us spend a penny?
I was directed to McDonalds to use theirs. I’m sure McDonald’s are thrilled by that!

Decent shop, shame about the middle-aged Irish woman on the customer service desk with an attitude. Don’t think she’d speak the way she does to customers asking questions about membership cards and click and collect in the way she does in front of management two weeks before a pay review, I’ll put it that way.

Anything was too much trouble, sorry I don’t understand how your membership card numbers and vouchers. Good job it’s not your job to explain that to customers, make them feel welcome and be polite.. oh wait.

Everytime I go here I end up getting over charged, Irene is constantly on the tills in the morning and most times I get overcharged for something or extra items added to my bill for no reason. Making me late for work and then having to try and retrieve a refund. I understand she is an older lady but she wasn’t able to even see the numbers on the screen to even input the digits. Cmon B&Q you can do better.

A reasonable DIY store with a sizeable space to display plenty of stock. They stock most things that even the most obsessive home improvement expert could want even full kitchen and bathrooms, also has a reasonable garden centre, which is competitive in comparison with other garden stockists. Prices are mainly competitive, staff are pleasant if asked a question.

Costco Sheffield

The only good thing about Costco here is the parking, plenty of space for free parking. The building inside is like an abandoned factory, the layout is terrible with no signs for each section other than pathetic hot food near the exit. Customer service today was absolutely zero in particular the grumpy staff member in the computer area. I could feel the weird atmosphere there. Variety isn’t that much though, minimum spending is PS100 even if you don’t have much to buy on the list. Weirdest part at the end is you have to line up and show your receipt to the man near the exit and wait until he finishes counting each items in your shopping cart then you are allowed to leave. Out of all, very disappointed and not a pleasant experience at this branch in Sheffield. I vote for Sam’s Club instead and wish it had one in England.

Costco is wholesale let’s be clear
It’s more suited for the corner shop person to make a profit, even though I buy in bulk as most, not all , items are cheaper INDIVIDUALLY if you break the cost down per item. Don’t listen to negative reviews regarding money, I’ve spent 3 or 4 quid before, no PS100 minimum spend like some reviews talking cobblestones. Minimal staff as it’s designed for you to browse, if you need help, get ready for this, but ask!!!!
Loads of different stuff to consider buying, electronic, diy, food, clothes alcohol
It’s clean, huge, and I’ve never had any issues over 13 years . Love it

Very good shop, staff are nice and fairly helpful.
Gets very busy, even at 8pm
The biggest if not the only problem with them is that no matter when you go, all the fruit and vegetables on display are rotten. If you go to buy fruit or veg, CHECK THEM BEFORE BUYING!!! as most packs contain at least two moldy items.
As for TV’s/Phones/Tablets and Fridge/Freezers, they do have SOME unbeatable deals.
Worth it? Yes

*THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE*
My partner collected a Mountfield lawnmower, with respect thankfully she is a 59 year old very fit lady. Obviously after giving proof of ID at the click & collect desk, she asked if the mower was on a flatbed trolley. Aaron the member of staff on the desk informed her it wasn’t and then huffed and puffed because he had to go and get one. She then asked if there was anyone to help her load it on her pickup, his reply was unless there is anyone outside, NO! Lucky she managed to load it herself without injury. If this is the level of customer service offered by B&Q, dynamics have changed. The fact that the mower is labelled with a warning sticker regarding it’s weight, obviously doesn’t matter to B&Q Queens Rd or Aaron.
PLEASE NOTE- Two years ago I worked at B&Q Chesterfield part time, semi retired 20 hours a week. I’m 60 and if the manager of Queens Rd would like to know who I am, please respond to my feedback with an email address and I’ll gladly tell you and with respect with a simple phone call to HR you’ll find out the kind of customer service I offered while in B&Q’s employ.

2nd time I’ve had a poor customer service experience with Karen. First time was picking up a PS300 garden future set for my parents – collected as expected from the collections desk but upon leaving the store despite the fact she had seen me at the collections desk stopped myself and my brother and essentially accused of potentially taking the products without payment . Today I came to collect a click and collect and explained it was an hour click and collect but hadn’t received the collection text but there was only 19 minutes remaining on the hour and asked if she could help bring it forward at all as was in a rush and it was 1 Tin of paint – before I could even finish speaking rudely interrupted me with a no and continued to refuse to help in the slightest – then went back less then 2 minutes later and asked her to cancel the click and collect to which she responded I couldn’t as it was being picked – you can’t make it up

I continue to have a bad experience at this store. My first visit I was given the wrong paint which was mixed by B&Q which resulted in my decorator being unable to complete the work and as a result I had to pay him again to come back to redo the work. I reached out to the lady who manages the paint department who promised compensation, to which I never received an email back. Today I visited to buy some DIY panelling and was refused as I didn’t have any ID for the glue – I am 30 years old (you need to be 18 to buy Glue in the UK) The lady at the checkout had very poor customer service skills, a very disappointing and frustrating experience again

Our reviewer was a last minute shopper on Saturday 05-Nov and we must rate customer service here as 5-Stars. People make businesses, not the sign above the door and this team did their company proud.

Nothing was too much trouble. Emily was so patient and extremely helpful, changing our online order for something else without any sign of impatience at the end of a busy day.

Duty Manager Oscar also went the extra mile, resolving a stock issue on the computer, so our reviewer could take another item home when the computer said ‘no’.

Thank you Emily and Oscar at Screwfix, Queens Road, Sheffield.

Need to write this review, I called in today as I’d purchased the incorrect shower. The guy who served me was so helpful, I didn’t catch his name I came in about 3:45pm ish.. (I’m the lady buying Tritan Shower if you read this)
The guy really took the time to help me I had no idea what type of short to buy.
The duty manager was also extremely helpful.
It makes intimidating stuff , that i as a women find easier when helpful men who do know what they talking about go above and beyond.
Thank you so much , a credit to that shop .
