We are in the process of buying a house, and our mortgage offer was taking quite some time and holding the whole chain up. After a bit of pushing, the bank revealed that thier valuation survey stated that the property had “widespread wood boring insect infestation”. This was news to us, as our 6 hour long level 3 survey and a local damp proofers report had said nothing of the sort. But clearly, this was preventing our mortgage being approved. We decided to get a 3rd report done, to put us at ease and hopefully push the banks approval on. Everything was getting rather tense, after the long delays and the banks administrative timelines being so long – so we wanted a survey same week. Tyrone was available the quickest out of everyone I contacted – answered me politely and fast, and then came on a Saturday morning to do the survey. He delivered the report to us 24 hours later on the Sunday morning: the report was a good mixture of technical explanation as to how he came to his conclusions, but straightforward and clear enough for us to understand. He has put our minds at ease and giving us some great suggestions for tackling some minor condensation damp, and confirmed really clearly for the bank that there was no beetle infestation. I recently moved into an old property with exposed high timber beams. The RICS building survey had recommended getting a quote for woodworm treatment, which I hadn’t acted upon before purchase. However, having spotting a visible area of internal lintel where the wood had been eaten/ rotted away (not highlighted by the building surveyor), I did contact a couple of damp surveyors for advice/ quotes for surveys.
One sucked through his teeth and, without viewing, said I’d have to sand blast the beams back to bare wood to treat or drill and inject woodworm treatment with no guarantee of success.
Conversely, Tyrone has a very calming and reassuring manner! He was able to carry out an inspection within 48 hours. He was generous with his time on the day, listening to my concerns and explaining things in plain English. I received the report the following day.
He confirmed there is no evidence of current woodworm infestation, the timbers are dry, and there is no need or benefit for precautionary (expensive, not to mention toxic) timber treatment. Hooray!!
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his independent and impartial advice and services.

A general survey had been carried out on the property which identified significant damp issues (although did recommend getting a specialist to survey), plus a damp proofing company had visited and quoted thousands to rectify the damp issues.
Tyrone contacted me directly after surveying the property and went through his findings over the phone before sending the full report within 24 hours.
Tyrone reassured us that the property had no damp and because it had been empty for some time was cold and had a little condensation…
He saved us from spending thousands unnecessarily plus the time and mess it would have created.

Excellent Service! We have a problem with bee’s setting up a hive in our unused chimney. They were starting to come down the chimney into the house. Mikey came out straight away (on a Saturday morning) to have a look at the issue. Access is difficult and Mikey even started to contact scaffolders and beekeepers to get me an instant quote for the bespoke work. As a temporary fix, he managed to arrange to have the fireplace blocked from inside, again through one of his contacts. Very professional and helpful guy. Will definitely use again in the future.
Excellent service provided! Enquired at 9am and the issue was seen to before 12 o clock the same day! We had the council previously look at the same issue and the problem came back. DH8 Pest Control found the root of the problem straightaway whereas the council only looked at the surface issue. I’d definitely recommend DH8 Pest Control and would use DH8 Pest Control again myself too!

Contacted Simon at 6pm on a Saturday night regarding a possible wasp nest I thought we had in our loft. He was very polite, said he was on on a job but don’t worry I’ll get out to you tonight. Upon having a look in our loft he found it was actually bees in the wall cavity and advised us accordingly. Super friendly, super helpful and wouldn’t hesitate in contacting him in the future. Simon was very thorough, took time to chat about a squirrel problem and talked me through and explained exactly what he was going to do to solve the problem.
He came round immediately the squirrel had been trapped to remove it. Very nice and pleasant chap. Very reasonable price too.

I am really pleased with the service I received from CLM Solar Pest Exclusion. I emailed to ask about getting pigeon-proofing put on around my panels. They phoned on the same day and came round to look at my roof 15 minutes later.
Mel and Ian explained carefully how they would carry out the work and were able to book me in shortly after. The day before we’d agreed Ian phoned to say gale force winds were forecast for when they were supposed to come and offered several other possibilities, but happily accommodated my request to get the job done earlier on the same day as agreed.
The work was completed quickly and tidily and Ian and Mel were very polite, friendly and efficient. Poor Ian had to remove a dead pigeon – which come out in decomposed bits, so it was not an easy job.
The excluder looks so much better and hopefully and impervious than the previous ‘hedgehog’ that had been installed. I am looking forward to a pigeon-free life from now on!
Ian also sourced and replaced three broken tiles on the roof of our extension which will hopefully stop it leaking.

After noticing that a number of pigeons were sheltering under our solar panels, I decided to deter them before they started to nest.
I carried out extensive research in to the best method of doing this and after excluding dummy owls and sirens etc we decided that pigeon mesh was the most effective option.
The experts recommended a heavy duty welded mesh and after looking at CLM Roofing (North East) website we decided that their system was just what we were looking for.
Getting a quote and ordering the mesh was very easy and the price was very competitive. Mel and Ian were able to fit us in the following week which was amazing, given that it was midwinter. Installation only took a couple of hours and the wire mesh fitted was of a very high quality and was secured very neatly without the need to drill the panels which was great.
Ian and Mel are a very friendly couple and I would highly recommend them

I was fully briefed on the product they were going to install and how they would secure it to the panels. Our grass was in an awful condition when the guys arrived, brown, dead in places, full of weeds and moss, we thought it wasn’t possible to bring it back to life but the guys have made an incredible job, the difference was visible after one treatment and completely unrecognisable after 3-4. My grass is now lush green, feels better under foot, drains well and I’m not embarrassed by it anymore! 5 star service, lovely polite and professional team. Would highly recommend!!

It didn’t take long to turn into a beautiful grassy lawn, that felt lovely under barefoot.
We get four visits from the team per year. With different treatments depending on the season.

Unreliable service. Called at 9am was told send my details and I would get a call out today. Despite chasing across the day and being assured they would ring heard from no one. Could have got another provider out. Waste of a day in time sensitive situation.
Edit- finally got a rude response via text message saying he said he would he try and fit me in and not everyone can jump to the top of the list. I reiterated that he had told me on this message chain I would get a call today. If you want reliability this is not the company to go for. Even trying to threaten that if I left a review they would put it down to my impatience and temper. No it’s due to your overpromise and lack of customer service.
Cobra provided an excellent and supportive service, at an unbelievably reasonable price. – This followed previous efforts and enquires with other companies, who seemed to lack interest, and presented as being unhelpful or inconsiderate. – I would therefore have no reservations with using or recommending Cobras highly professional service in the future. – I would also like to acknowledge the reassurance and professionalism provided by Paul Gowland with regard to managing the work that was recently carried out at my property.
Would highly recommend Cobra after using them for a domestic rodent issue. Paul arrived promptly, explained the situation really well and put us at ease. Cobra follow national guidelines and Paul was reassuringly knowledgeable about the practicalities and legal side of managing pests. We have used the council run service in the past but this experience was far superior. Very reasonably priced and although I hope not to need them again (!) – if I do , I would not hesitate to call them.

Perfect for finding a permanent solution to a rat problem.
I spent months looking for a pest control company that would do more than just putting down some poison and charging a couple of hundred quid. Kill Line were just that — pest control guys with good knowledge and equipment for properly surveying the drains. We had already had the drains surveyed by another company for the same problem, and the other company found nothing. Kill Line found the rats’ entry point quickly and permanently closed it. Excellent service from Sean and Ellis.
Excellent and professional service for honey bee removal from a cavity wall. The report we received following our survey was really detailed and helped us make the decision to use Kill Line Pest Control. On the day, the guys were really good, explained everything that they were doing, very clean and tidy and were done in a good amount of time. The area has been covered with mesh as a preventative measure, to avoid further bees or other pests entering the property. Thank you!

Screwfix aka Kingfisher have the pricing software to ensure that they are charging fair and reasonable prices. But they choose to rip consumers off.
In a market where products are available in many locations the difference comes down to price and in 1.2 seconds over 25 locations have come up cheaper many of them greater than PS10 inc delivery.
The second being the service which for me is driven by the senior mgmt team, to get the response “it’s head office” and an attitude that is “Computer says no” is not good enough. Maybe try looking at locally know competitors and try saying we could match this instead of the one presented by the customer, customer service is there to help but certainly not in this case, the lady in the pink high vis was only too keen to share your name when asked.
Plus point is at least my pension should be growing exponentially
Was told I had to order online,this is something I have never done and I had to register first.after a stressful half hour I finally ordered the batteries I wanted. I had to pay beforehand and guess what they were the wrong item. They told me because it was a cashless transaction they couldn’t take them back until covid was over.this confused me because how can they take money of your card and can’t put it back on. I decided to try another branch and guess what ,after waiting for a week,they also sent the wrong batteries. It took me a while but now I realize what the Screw in Screwfix meant.
Could not manage my work without Screwfix. They stock just about everything I require, if not on the day will be next day.
Admittedly due to the current circumstances some items are unavailable.
Premises is well prepared for the current circumstances and staff are always polite and helpful. At the moment you must order and pay online then pick up at branch, otherwise you will be turned away and rightly so.

Excellent service , very friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth ! Had issues with mice which seemed to have been coming in from the neighbours house. Dale helped us sort the problem and adviced us what we needed to do , we had caught a fair few ourselves but needed some professional advice and guidance. Dale was super friendly and reasonable priced compared to other companies with a free call out before discussion charges. I did tell him I didn’t care how much just wanted the issue resolving anyway ! Mice seemed to have gone ( fingers crossed) but if they return will definitely be getting back in touch with Dale.
Could not recommend enough! Called in a panic and was there within a couple of hours! Dale was so professional , friendly and made me feel at ease about the pests in my loft. They have finally gone after a few visits! He even filled the hole where they were getting in, So happy! Thanks
