I am in awe of the amount of effort Chris put in today for the very reasonable price he charged. He was here nearly all day and has done exactly what he said he was going to do. He cleaned two small roofs which badly needed doing , all the gutters and all the York stone in the back garden. He has done an outstanding job and I would thoroughly recommend him. My only concern is that he will become so popular I might not be able to book him for next year so I am going to do that now! What a worker. Well done Chris and thank you for your efforts. I don’t usually post reviews but I couldn’t not do one for this job . Amazing work ethic.

That was last years review. Feel compelled to write another one this year (2024) Chris has just spent 5 hours cleaning all my patios and drive .He has done another wonderful job which can’t be faulted . I knew he would become extremely popular as he is so good. He’s very busy so I suggest booking him in as soon as you can as long as you don’t take my slot!

Absolutely brilliant work from Chris completed today on our house! I sent a photo of the rendering on the side of our house that required cleaning and Chris came back with a detailed explanation of what would require doing and a date he could come do it. He completed the work this morning and our rendering is back to looking brand new and protected for the future. The equipment he uses is top of the range and leaves zero mess. I would recommend Chris to anyone looking for any external work done. Thank you so much Chris!

Brilliant from start to finish, from providing a quote, explaing the process, and agreeing a date everything was seamless. The workmanship is second to none ,it’s like a brand new roof. Everything was left so clean and tidy afterwards. Any doubts you might have you can forget about them this is well worth it and looks stunning and makes the whole property look so much better. Highly recommended you won’t be disappointed

Me and my partner went in today to have a look at some bathroom panels, we were clueless at the start and had some information that our builder had given us. We asked John for help and he went above and beyond, even spoke to our builder when we called him to make sure we were buying the correct parts. If it wasn’t for John we wouldn’t have purchased anything today. He deserves the recognition! Brilliant customer service. We’ll definitely be coming here again!

Despite checking on line before gong they didn’t have the grout I wanted. Nor the taps.
Did have black grab rails, n matching bathroom accessories like toilet roll holders.
Spent my money on plastic woven outside rugs for my newly built pallet chaise longue instead.
The free offcut box as you leave is brilliant, and I got a large peice of offcut boarding for the pallet chaise longue.

A huge thank you to Nikki in the kitchen design team! Nikki was very knowledgeable and was able to identify issues we hadn’t considered in our rough plans and help us to find a way to work around them! Nikki was very helpful and went out of her way to get the order delivered in time for when we needed to fit it. We really appreciated all of the help 🙂

In store service is great the staff are lovely the problem I have is my order hasn’t even been confirmed and I paid for delivery I was told it would be here by Wednesday but yet nothing, I’ve been caller 28 all day even when ringing off a second phone it also said caller number 28 the responses from customer service are invisible just like my order confirmation I asked straight away about this being chased up and they still haven’t bothered now. Don’t pay for delivery guys because it won’t come on time anyway, I’m 15 minutes away from the shop with traffic if they allowed me to order to store I doubt there would be a problem. I’ve sent proof on my side over and asked them to check the CCTV on the time and day of purchase you will clearly see a member of staff doing the order online for me, and then me paying. I have sent screenshots of the purchase for the amount and the fact it says the range on my online banking still getting nowhere.

Item priced at PS29.99 scanned up higher at the till, member of staff come to check the price realised it was a sale price that ended and they’ve simply not done there job of changing the label on the shelf. he had to ask the sour faced manager if they would honour the price is says. she simply said we don’t have to honour it, not so much as an oh sorry about that or nothing small curly haired thing with a face like a chewed wasp won’t return again left without my other items either as didn’t appreciate the lack of customer service from a ” manager ”

Stockport peel centre

Came in to shop and got to the tills. Once I got to the tills, I was in a queue waiting to be served. What appears to be a manager comes around near the tills, pretends to ignore my presence, and speaks to the people behind me, asking them if they are paying by card. She then directs them to go in front of me. The audacity of this manager screams subtle racism. I felt humiliated and was left speechless. I will not be returning back to this store .

Good selection of items considering its a smaller store. It can be hard to find a staff member sometimes when you need help, not sure if I’m shopping when people are on a break or they are short staffed, but the ones you do find are very helpful and friendly. The till area is rubbish. Looks like they have gone self-service, but the layout is terrible. People just seem to crowd in one area, not knowing which till is free and even if that is a till.

AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL. Tried to send back furniture and they have arranged THREE pickups on THREE SEPARATE days and FAILED to turn up every single time. No apologies whatsoever. Absolutely HORRENDOUS company – AVOID at all costs and SHOP LOCAL with a company that actually cares about your business.

Prices are too high and way finding is terrible. I came here to get some moving supplies. Walked around for 10 minutes trying to find boxes. Finally found someone to help, who was very nice. But then I saw the prices. PS8 for two plastic mattress covers! PS5 per box! I walked out empty handed.

This store is brilliant for wheelchair users. There is plenty of room to manoeuvre around as the aisles are wide and there never seems to be obstacles in your way. The store is always well stocked and it isn’t very often that things are unavailable. The staff are always polite and cheerful.

Wonderful place to shop.
I bring a 95 year old lady in a wheelchair, and the staff are so friendly. A special mention for Paula who has served us in the cafe. She always makes us feel welcome and asks how we are.

It is one of the good place to go for shopping. Everything is properly managed and no Parking hassle. Staff are very helpful. I do recommend this shop. However it is bit expensive compared to other supermarkets.

All the usual plants and gardening equipment, plus gifts, shoes, clothes and cafe. Dropped in for breakfast which was dearer than supermarket breakfasts, but the usual price for garden centre breakfasts. Two eggs, two rashers of bacon, two hash browns, tomato, beans, sausage, and mushrooms. The whole thing was nicely cooked, nicely presented, and hot. I have deducted one star because the restaurant itself was cold and there was no toast included. It’s the only place I know where a ‘full English’ doesn’t include toast. There may be toast as an extra, but I don’t know as I wasn’t expecting it to be missing. Given the price of a single slice of bread, I was surprised the price didn’t include it. That apart, the breakfast itself was excellent, and the staff were polite, friendly, and efficient.

A nice sized garden centre with a cafe, although the queue for the cafe was really long.
Plenty of parking and easily found off of the road with signs..
Toilets available..
Currently a large range of Christmas stuff.
Animal area.
Outdoor plants.
A clothing area too.
Hot tubs and swimming pools.
A children’s play area outside.
Till service was fast and efficient with social distancing screens in place.
A food area by the door which currently has a nice selection.
Worth a ganda !!!

Queued for 20 mins to get into cafe
Sat outside with dog
Dead plants on table
Meal came salad inedible, lettuce brown and cucumber soft
Went to assistant manager with concerns, not at all bothered
Thought it may save them getting other causes for concern, and stop reviews, i have never done a review before, so sad to have to do this one.
I then went to pay for goods at shop till
A further large queue
Didnt purchase goods
Not a good experience

Screwfix Stockport – Higher Hillgate

I’ve been using Screwfix for years, both for DIY and tools/materials for work. Never had a bad experience, the app is pretty good so I always order using my phone and pay before walking in.

Turn up, press the check in button on the app before getting out the van/car, within a few minutes but usually less someone puts it on the desk. Everything I’ve ever ordered has been there when they said it would, no “it’s not here mate” or looking for it for 15 minutes etc like I’ve had at Toolstation a couple of times.

Occasionally I’ve had to return things because I’ve bought too much or the wrong type, never a problem as long as you have proof you bought it and it’s not opened/used etc.

Only bad thing about the place is the road it is on is busy and too many c**ts drive way too fast down it not paying attention, also people will just walk in front of you so you have to watch for that as well. So getting in/out the car park can be a pain.

Excellent Service by the duty manager Sean certainly leads by example. Nothing was too much for him and also asked if I needed anything else on top of the goods I had already bought. Very polite and very happy to help with other questions I asked about

Friendly staff, quick staff. Some time you need to wait for collection text until mid day where as in Broadheath store they send you a message early in the morning.

We went to the store at 5pm, there was no one waiting and nobody serving. There was heavy rock music playing, some more customers came in, still no staff, had to call out for staff to come. No apology for keeping us waiting, a queue had formed. No knowledge of what I was asking for, I was asking for advice as to whether the item I was buying was the same size as the one I was trying to replace. It ends up the item I bought was the wrong size so had to return. Terrible customer service, the staff were all chatting around the corner, no apologies to the customers waiting.

Went this afternoon. Two people being served . Assistant finished with one and simply walked off despite the fact i was waiting to be served, leaving one assistant dealing with one customer on a long enquiry . A queue started to build and comments were made within the queue about poor service . I could see people at the back who knew we were there buy didn’t come to the counter. Eventually the same assistant who left the till before returned and served me . Quite poor customer service really and compared to Sharston and Stockport where customer service is explemplary .

They have all the main tools needed to carry any diy job big or small. Done many purchases with them over the past few years. Pretty much have stock of everything on same day but if delayed then its only by 24-48 hours which I think is still quite decent.

Store manager broke consumer law, had to escalate to Argos to who agreed with me

Purchased a PS500 product from the store but had return it after a couple of months due to a fault. Store sent it off for a repair, but had to wait 4 weeks. Piked the item up again and the paperwork said they had fixed it, but the fault was still present. Store manager refused to replace the item and said they will continually send the product off for repair and won’t replace. Now have to wait possibly another 4 weeks to fix something their repairer said they had fixed.

The after sales support is bad. No repair details or updates were sent to me and you can’t contact the store as you’ll get an automated message saying “store is busy, try again later” every time you call. Members of the public can’t contact the store, so if you send a repair you’ll either have to sit there and wait up to 21 days for a phone call to say its back, or got into store and ask for un update – but you’ll have to pay for parking.

The main Argos company won’t help you. If you call the support line, they will say as you purchased it from the store you’ll have to speak to the store.

Basically, don’t buy a appliances like TVs, Washing Machines, Cookers, Phones, Tablets etc, because if you have a fault after 30 days they will ONLY offer repair and expect you to crack without it while its repaired – the paperwork says it can take up to 21 days… even then, they might just claim its fixed when it isn’t and send it off for repair again which will take another 21 days.

**Update**
I had to escalate to Argos management who confirmed that the store manager broke consumer law and the store was forced to issue me with a refund.

Bought a standing fan today because the weathers so hot and it’s sticky at night. The box was taped together, 100% a previous return. I’ve got so far in putting the fan together only to realise that I don’t have all of the parts and now I’m going to have to go back again tomorrow. Only gave 2 stars because this usually doesn’t happen and they are quick but things just aren’t checked over :/ I’m missing a grill nut so can’t even use the fan tonight and a safety screw and nut. What am I supposed to do without them?

I had an excellent customer services experience by the employees that were at the click and collect point. They found and delivered quickly my order. Sarah went the extra mile for me as se offered me help to carry the office desk when she realized that it was heavy for me, and she further helped me to fit it in my car. Thank you so much!!!

Snape & Sons had an item available for collection for which I had a dire need! The online purchase was very simple; so simple, in fact, that I was a little suspicious that it hadn’t worked properly, but – having placed the order in the late evening – I received an e-mail the next morning to let me know that my ordered goods were available for pick-up. The shop has a handy car park to call its own and the staff were very friendly and the order was exactly as it should be. No complaints, then, and I’ll be happy to call into this handy local business next time I have hardware needs. Cheers!

First time I had gone there to pick up a special HG headstone cleaner for which they were stockists and which I ordered online. Website with postcode details helped as I use public transport. Topped by an excellent coffee at the Church Inn’s marquee cafe just around the corner handily by the bus stop! Courteous greeting and directed to their annex for ‘click and collect’. Have since used the cleaner, an excellent product, thanks for stocking.
